Central Park Children’s Zoo

Polar bears, penguin, and monkeys are among the animals that live in Central Park—though at the zoo, of course. The five-acre Central Park Zoo is located between 63rd and 66th Streets on the East Side of the park. Unlike Jack, Euri, and Cora, you’ll have to visit in the daytime since it closes at dark.

Among the zoo’s architectural highlights is the Delacorte Clock, a modern version of the belfries or bell towers in churches and city halls dating back to the middle ages. The clock features bronze sculptures of zoo animals playing different instruments and each day, on the hour, plays one of thirty-two nursery rhymes while on the half-hour, the animals dance around the clock.
