The Dynamo Room

There is one room beneath Grand Central that was purposefully left off the station’s blueprints. Cut deep into the bedrock, this secret space once housed the five giant converters that illuminated the terminal and powered the trains. Left off the blueprint for security reasons, it was carefully guarded during World War II for fear that a saboteur could cut off troop movements to the entire Northeast.

The last converters were shut down in March 1989 and the dynamo room, as far as I know, is not actively used. The trains are currently powered remotely by power stations.

The small office where Euri brings Jack and Cora to sleep during the daylight hours also exists. Back when the converters were working, however, it was always air-conditioned as summer temperatures in the Dynamo Room could reach 140 degrees.
