The St. James Theater
The St. James Theater, where Euri and Jack watch The Producers, is located on West 44th Street in the heart of the Broadway Theater District. It originally opened as the Erlanger Theater in 1927.
The theater’s inaugural production was The Merry Malones by the great American songwriter George M. Cohan, who is best known for the tunes “You’re a Grand Old Flag” and “Yankee Doodle Dandy.” The song that chorus girl and record keeper Edna Gammon sings, “We’ve Had a Grand Old Time,” is a real number from The Merry Malones.
