Weegee

Born Arthur Fellig, Weegee (1899-1968) was a top New York City photojournalist known for his stark black and white crime scene photos. Nicknamed the phonetic spelling of Ouija for his ability to appear at crime scenes shortly after the crime occurred (however, it’s unlikely that he had any paranormal powers, rather he listened to a police scanner), Weegee captured the underbelly of New York—crime, vice, and other grotesque images from the city’s darkest hours. I felt that Night Court was the sort of place where Weegee would feel at home. See a photo of him and some of his iconic photos here.
